Talon Cusp

                                                                  Talon Cusp

A 10 year old girl, presented to Smile Care Dental Clinic, Dhubri, Assam complaining of extra tooth in the upper jaw.

Clinical & radiographic examination reveals unilateral talon's tubercle projecting lingually from the cingulum of right permanent maxillary lateral incisor. The palatal surface of right maxillary permanent lateral incisor had a deep developmental groove where the talon cusp blends with the sloping palatal tooth surface. It's composed of normal enamel, dentin & a horn of pulp tissue. There were no positive findings for systemic condition, &/or any association with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome. As the anterior open bite & talon cusp did not cause any occlusal interference, no corrective treatment for the tooth was performed.
